The second Book Group is now in operation. It will be run on similar lines to the existing group, i.e. monthly meetings, at which we would discuss the previous month's book - and any issues arising from the book - and decide on the following month's book. The choice of books would be democratic, everyone getting a chance to choose. We would try to select books that are available in local libraries and are cheap to buy.
Feedback on Previous Books
Last month (December) we read 'A Month in the Country' by J L Carr, the previous month we read 'Spies' by Michael Frayn. The two books had some similarities. In both the protagonist was an elderly man remembering incidents that happened many years before. We felt that both successfully evoked the time in which they were set,1920 and the Second World War'.
