Potential New Interest Groups
1. Padel Interest Group
We now have a date for an introductory session at Padelheim in Padgets Lane, Redditch. This will be Thursday 15th October at 10.00am. If you'd be interested in having a go, and aren't already on my list, do let me (Sylvia Edwards) know. If there is sufficient interest in continuing, we will set up a Padel Interest Group. The leader would be Heather Lawrence and the sessions would take place on the first and third Thursday mornings of the month.
2. Intermediate Spanish
Hablas español? Interest is gaining for an Intermediate Spanish group. I think it possible that there is sufficient interest to get a group going. However, we would need a leader to step forward! No teaching would be expected and it would be a self-help group - by the members for the members - but nevertheless, it would need someone reasonably proficient in Spanish to take the helm. Or perhaps two people could share the role. It would not be a group for beginners. If you might be interested in joining the group as a participant, or as a leader, please let me (Sylvia Edwards) know!
3. Art Group
This will be an Art group – a self-help (not taught) painting, drawing and mixed media activity. Sheila Carpenter has offered to set up and lead this group; indeed, it is her idea. It will take place on the 4th Thursday morning of the month. A possible venue is the small room at Webheath Village Hall but this is subject to confirmation. Sheila is holding an informal meeting on 3rd November (our 1st Tuesday meeting) at the Bridge Hall, at 3pm, to chat to anyone interested, about the way forward. This will either be in reception or the small room. However, meetings will probably not start until January, since the 4th Thursday in November is our Christmas meal and the 4th Thursday in December is Christmas Eve. If you are interested, please email Sheila - click on her name to open dialog box Sheila Carpenter. It would also be helpful to know if you are able to join her on 3rd November or not so that we have enough chairs set out for you.
4. Sunday Lunch Club and/or Ethnic Eating Group
If you might have an interest in exploring the idea of a Sunday Lunch Club and/or an Ethnic Eating Group, do let me know. (We did once have a thriving Ethnic Eating group but covid unfortunately put an end to it.)

Photographic Competition 2026
We are delighted to announce that our u3a photographic competition will again take place this year. Whether you are a seasoned photographer or an enthusiastic amateur, we invite you to submit your best image of 2026. The entry details can be found by clicking here.
To all Existing and Prospective Interest Group Leaders
To support a new interest group to establish itself, the Committee is offering to underwrite the hire of the small room at The Bridge Church Community Hall on the 1st Tuesday afternoon of the month from 2pm to 4pm, for up to three months. Thereafter, it's expected that the group will seek an alternative long-term venue and be self-funding. The committee can advise on the location of alternative venues.'
