Family History+
The group is designed for anyone who is actively researching their family history or is looking to see what is involved in such research. Topics discussed are guided by the needs of members of the group but are generally focussed on ancestors in England & Wales over the past two centuries.
Family history includes genealogy (identifying your ancestors) and researching how those ancestors lived. The Family History+ group is concerned about both aspects. The results of your research should be both family trees and the stories of your ancestors' lives.
In addition to the three monthly meetings—though most members of the group will likely only attend the Webheath meetings—the group produces booklets on topics designed to help with your research and these are available free to members of the group.
For those new to family history research we can offer guidance to get started with identifying your ancestors and producing a family tree. Join us and become the world expert on your family!
Each meeting costs £2 for contribution towards room hire and refreshments.
Meetings for 2026-7 include:
8th September First Principles
13th October Guild of One-Name Studies
10th November Gravelly Hill Communities
8th December Our Ancestors at Play—19th/20thC games
More meetings:
In addition to the main Webheath meeting there is also a monthly ‘Research Support’ meeting open to members of the group—though numbers are limited.
‘Family History on-line’ is open to all those on the group’s e-mail list and meets from 7pm on the evening of each Webheath meeting. The evening meetings are open discussions on a topic related to that day’s earlier meeting at Webheath Village Hall.
