After our August break, the group returns to examine more contenders for the ‘Britain’s Greatest Scientist’ accolade. Ros will introduce us to James Prescott Joule. I wonder how many of you first thought that Joule was a French name? Norman is to be our guide for Henry Cavendish. We have already heard about the Cavendish Laboratory at Cambridge and its founder James Clerk Maxwell—now is our chance to learn about the scientist after whom the laboratory was named.
